Studied at the universities of Munich, Göttingen and Bonn. Subjects taken include German philology, Empirical Social Sciences and Human Communication Research

After passing the Magister Artium (M.A.) exam in Göttingen he was awarded a doctorate Dr. phil. from Göttingen.The subject of his dissertation was communication research

Dr. Hann passed the state-recognized correspondence course for management and business management EKS (Energo-cybernetic strategy)

Has been married since 1975 to a Korean woman and has three children

Was DAAD-Professor from 1978 to 1983 at the Hankuk University of Foreign Languages in Seoul and in this capacity he started the translation department of that institution

In 1982 he was appointed Associate Professor in Seoul,

Guided the Korean-German Society in Seoul between 1981 and 1983 as the German Executive Managing Secretary General (organizer and coordinator of the 100 year jubilee celebration of German-Korean economic relations),

Received a DAAD Fellowship and performed research between 1983 and 1985 at the Institute of Human Communication Research at the University of Bonn on “Prejudices and problems of communication between Koreans and Germans in South Korea” Iudicium Verlag 1985,

Was in an executive position (Director and Associate Professor) for the DAAD at the National Institute of Modern Languages in Islamabad/Pakistan between 1985 and 1987
